Meet The Team: Phil Knight

Welcome to our new “Meet the Team” blog series! You work with team members from CHG day in and day out so we thought it was time for you to get to know them a little better.

For our first installment, you’ll get to know the man, the myth, the legend: Phil Knight. As General Manager, Phil has worked at CHG for over 20 years and plays an important role in every job, both big and small. His positive outlook on life is contagious; he is sure to make you smile whenever you connect with him.

Meet Phil Knight. 

Q: What is your role at CHG?

A: Cheerleader, negotiator, fixer-upper, helper, listener, coach, part-time mentor, friend.

Q: Why did you decide to do the work you are doing now?

A: Printing and book manufacturing requires continuous learning which I have always enjoyed. The need for change both as an individual and organization has also held my attention.

Q: They say everyone has a book in them…what would your book be about?

A: It would be a non-fiction book that would take place in the mid 1930’s about life during the depression era.

Q: If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?

A: Read more books! I would also like to spend more time with my family, but I suppose they would prefer sleep.

Q: What fictional places would you most like to go to and why?

A: Dragonstone (Game of Thrones) to see a dragon. What else?

Q: What website do you visit most often?

A: The Wallstreet Journal

Q: What is the most challenging part of your job?

A: The never-ending process of finding new ways to improve our manufacturing process.

Q: When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A: A truck driver.

Q: If you were a super-hero, what powers would you have?

A: Healing kids with chronic illnesses.

Q: What are you most looking forward to in the next 10 years?

A: Having more time to spend with my kids and grandkids.
